Final Presentation Example Video

Dear students,

I'm sorry it has been so long since I have posted! I will reply to your comments soon! In the meantime, here is a video that some teachers in Level B have made which gives an example of how to do your presentation.

Watch the video and take notes on some of these things:
Speaking feedback (What did they do well? What can they improve?)
Posture, gestures, eye contact (What kinds of gestures did they use? How did they use their pictures and videos?)
How did the speakers change sections? What phrases did they use to introduce each other?

If you have any questions about this video example, please also ask!

I hope this video is helpful to you as you prepare your presentation! Remember, you can always schedule an appointment with me, or you can attend the Lounge Writing class and ask the teacher if you can give your presentation or section.

Take care and enjoy the school festival this week!

Sincerely,
Jennifer

  2. Their gesture are very natural and their voice tone are various. It is good to hear their speech. but can I do like that? I think it is very difficult for me. I have to practice and effort to announce presentation.

    1. I think you will be surprised how well you can do with some practice! Even these teachers practiced this speech 8 times before they filmed the video! Practice is very important when giving a presentation. That is why we asked students to finish their slides with plenty of time to practice speaking. If you would like help or advice in practicing anytime, please feel free to meet me at my office! I may also hold a weekend practice session some time. Don't worry, though! We know these teachers are native speakers, so some things are easier for them. We don't expect you to speak so quickly or for so long!

  3. Wow~ Two proffesor's presentation is good and confident!! , but I think second proffesor moves much ,so it is hard to concentrate at presentation.
When I talks in front of the whole class , I am hard to do eye contact and speak loud. How do I overcome it?

    1. Kim Se Un, that is very good noticing! I agree that the second speaker is moving a little too much sometimes, and that can be distracting to the audience. It's good to notice these things. When we notice, we can improve our presentation bit by bit. Eye contact and speaking loudly are usually the hardest things for everyone. My answer is that you can improve by practicing often and by slowing down your speaking. By practicing often, you will remember what to say more. You won't have to look at the slide or notes very much, so you can make eye contact. Speaking loudly is a different skill. Maybe we can all practice some skills in class this week. One thing, though, is to practice not being afraid to speak loudly. Many people feel afraid because speaking loudly seems strange. It takes time and practice too. If you ever want to practice, you can join the lounge class or come and meet in my office to practice! I know you can do the speaking well, though! I have confidence in you!

    1. If you can understand this video well, then your English listening skills are very good, I think! They speak very quickly sometimes! Good job! I think practicing hard will help you a lot. I used to be shy when I was younger. When I first became a teacher, I sometimes felt afraid to teach and speak in front of many students. It took some time to feel comfortable with that. Maybe you know the English expression, though: Practice makes perfect! Practice is always a good idea! If you ever want help with your practice, please make an appointment, and I will be happy to listen to your presentation!
